Bereavement Leave

Bereavement Leave is tracked separate to sick leave and there is no limit to the number of days an employee may take, but it must not be unreasonable. It should take into account the dependency, relationship, and distance of travel required. The employer is entitled to proof that the bereavement occurred.

Bereavement leave is not legally required to be paid until the completion of six months service, but may be given in advance.

Payment is the same as for Sick Leave including meeting the RDP requirements.
