Electric Vehicles

Experiences of ownership
As an EV owner for five years, the articles below document my experiences from go to whoa and include thoughts on the various questions asked and the false myths propagated about them. As my only EV is a Tesla any references to other EV's are gleaned from friends and the internet from owner experience.
I have excluded Hybrid vehicles, other than the quotes below, as I have no experience with them and they are really just an excuse for existing auto manufactures to continue making ICE cars and claim green washing. They still burn fossil fuel and pollute our city air, just a little more efficiently than a regular ICE vehicle. Over time I will be adding and updating sections as more information comes to hand. However, a quote from Julia Poliscanova, senior director for clean vehicles at T & E in Europe, summed it up nicely:-
"Plug-in Hybrids are fake electric cars, built for lab tests and tax breaks, not real driving. Our tests show that even in optimal conditions, with a full battery, the cars pollute more than advertised. Unless you drive them softly, carbon emissions can go off the charts. Governments should stop subsidising these cars with billions in taxpayers money."
At least in NZ, purchasers of plug-in hybrids are now discouraged by having to pay RUC on all distance traveled and includes those while using petrol.
And a quote from Andy Palmer CEO of Aston Martin, considered the godfather of EVs. He developed the original Nissan Leaf, the first mass market BEV. "Hybrids are a Road to Hell - The West is losing the EV race." The Winner is China, where the industry has received some $320 Billion of Government subsidies since 2009 and the companies: BYD produce the Seagull for $10,000, and CATL is now a world leader in battery production. Hybrids only delay the transition to a pollution free environment.
